Discipline
Motivation is great at the very beginning of when you feel like starting something new: a new gym membership, a new project, a new diet... However, motivation, like many other emotions, is elusive and often short-lived. Relying solely on motivation to help you reach your goal is not a sustainable idea in the long term.
This is where discipline comes in. When you're feeling the least motivated, when you're tired, sore, feeling weak, when you don't even feel like getting out of bed, when it's been a long day at work, a long week even and all you want to do is just drop yourself into the couch, into your bed and just give in – that's when discipline comes in.
Every fibre in your being is screaming for you to just take the easy road and cop out; yet, the very moment you do, you know you'll regret it. Discipline is when you get out of bed when the bed is the most inviting, when you turn up to the dojo when you least feel like it.
Because you know it's the right thing to do.
