Resilience does not eliminate stress or erase life’s difficulties. Instead, it gives people the strength to tackle problems head on, overcome adversity and move on with their lives. Resilience is having a toughness and hardiness that carries you through when things don’t go to plan or what you are after seems to always be just out of reach. When you are disappointed or have setbacks resilience will keep you focused and motivated to give things another go. You can have all the talent in the world but that’s not enough. You can be incredibly strong, but that’s not enough. Persistence is the key. Never give up. Just keep right on keeping on. Do not dwell on failures or defeats, do not dwell in self-pity of how ‘unfortunate’ or ‘unlucky’ you are. That’s for losers. “Winners never quit and quitters never win” A goal is a target, something to aim for, an objective — and it has end result. We set goals to give ourselves a purpose, something to focus on and aspire to. To achieve a goal you need all the other things that we have spoken about in our talks like focus, determination, self-control, black belt attitude, hope and endurance. Your goal can be anything you choose because it is your goal – things like getting your next belt, becoming a better swimmer, getting better grades at school, learning how to ride a skateboard, spending more time with your friends or family or even getting a pet and being responsible and looking after it.
