Our martial arts programs
There are three different kids’ programs at Arrow, and a separate class for adults.
The kids’ programs are:
-
Little Stars (3 – 4 years old)
-
Bright Stars (5 – 8 years old)
-
Super Stars (9-14 years old)
Northstar Ju Jitsu teaches immediate and practical fighting skills that can be learned, assimilated and used quickly. Simple defensive combinations are taught in all ranges of fighting.
These include distant fighting with long range kicks and punches, in close fighting with knees, elbows and standing grappling and control on the ground.
At Arrow, we like to say '5 minutes to learn, a lifetime to master'. From your very first free lesson, our students take away helpful self-defence moves and tips. You will learn to kick, punch and defend yourself in many different situations. No matter what your size or fitness level, you will be taught to generate explosive power by using your entire body weight to strike weak points.
Women will have useable and practical moves that can be used on a larger, stronger opponent even after training for a short time.
For men, sparring and effective self-defence is a must. The Northstar programs encourage sparring to test your skills against others in a robust and safe training environment.
The system that we teach at Arrow is different because it’s the only system developed for Australia and all trainers are graduates of the Northstar system developed by Sensei Andrew Dickinson. He has studied many forms of martial arts for over 30 years and has taken the best elements to create the Northstar Ju Jitsu system. He has created programs that allow the student – child, woman or man – to develop at their own pace.
In three months you’ll be fitter and will have learnt basic self-defence. In 12 months, you’ll be at least a green belt and on your way to a black belt (usually 3-4 years).
There are classes at Arrow on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday at our Marsfield dojo. (Dojo is Japanese for training studio).
Simply register for a free lesson and you’ll be on your journey to train yourself – physically, mentally and spiritually. See you at the dojo!
